You can check in any time from 4pm, we have a key safe for late arrivals, which you will be given the code to on the day of your arrival. Check out is 11am.

We can sometimes accommodate a slightly earlier check in and out, any amendments to check in/out times are charged for and need to be paid in advance. Due to our cleaning rotas late check outs cannot be accommodated on the day. All arrangements for alteration of check in/out times need to be made prior to check in, we cannot accommodate any requests made after your arrival.

To ensure The Hideaway is perfect for your arrival please arrive at the time of check in and not before.

You will automatically receive a confirmation email with all the details of your stay. If you do not receive this, (please check your junk mail) contact us as soon as possible.

We are located in the small village of Layer de la Haye, in keeping with the name we are hidden away. The Heath is off New Cut, a small lane in the bend of the road (opposite end to the primary school). There is a signpost very low down to the ground, do not follow the natural bend of the lane but head straight down towards the woods, there are no houses, just trees. You will see a gate with a sign saying nature reserve, go as far as the gate and The Hideaway will appear on your left hand side.

We are 10 minutes from the main Colchester train station, with a direct route from London Liverpool Street.

Kitchen:

Tea, coffee, herbal teas, hotel chocolate chocolate and velvetiser, sugar, washing up liquid, tea towel, cloth and bin liners. Pots, pans, glassware and cutlery. If there is anything you specifically during your stay need please drop us a message.

Bathroom:

2 large bath sheets, 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels & 2 face cloth, 2 bathmats, 2 robes. Toiletries, including toilet rolls.

Firewood and firelighters.

We cannot accept guest dogs as we have 3 small dogs of our own on the premises. They may come and say hi, if you would prefer they didn’t, please notify us.

Cancellations made 28 days prior to the date of your booking, will be rescheduled or a full refund given. If you cancel within 28 days of your booking full payment is required. Any deposits made are non-refundable but can be rescheduled for another available date.

We are able to take charge of any deliveries there is a £10 charge for this.

We are also able to take delivery and put away, ready for your arrival, online shopping.
